I had to ask for the book and ended up buying the "display model". Such a shame. I started reading it when I got home and can't put it down. Maybe we'll have to promote it by word of mouth. For anyone interested, there is a Write to Anne contest with great prizes at www.100yearsofanne.com. It is the 100th Anniversary of Anne of Green Gables, our favourite little girl. Everyone should buy a copy for their favourite little girl. No surprise, same deal at the Indigo/Chapters in Barrhaven. I had to ask for the book and ended up buying the “display model”. Comment on Anne of Green Who??? by WM http://bytownbookshop.ca/2008/02/08/anne-of-green-who/#comment-49602 Sat, 09 Feb 2008 03:43:15 +0000 http://bytownbookshop.ca/2008/02/08/anne-of-green-who/#comment-49602 I love the irony in their "The World Needs More Canada" slogan. Their Canadian history and other non-fiction has atrophied to the point of uselessness. Actually, it did that within 12 months of their massive expansion. (I don't know from fiction.) I had one book I was interested shop up in Chapters Rideau, though I was short that week. Went back on payday. There it was - gone. Found it at Benjamin's a few months later, steeply discounted, so I took every copy. There's lots of diet and new age crap, though, at Chapters. And candles, candles, candles. And chocolate. All Canadian, one presumes. I'd check, but I don't really bother going there any more; if I'm in my "book place", I go to Nicholas Hoare for books and Benjamin for surprises. I'm really glad you enjoy it so much. Makes all the money spent on Scholastic books very worthwhile. You have the most amazing adventures in your little book shop. Actually about an hour a week would probably do it and if you keep a standard letter with spots to fill in the title etc. it could go pretty quick. Thanks for the tip. - Paul - prying1 - Excellent idea. - Now all I need is two extra hours a day instead of just one.

Most folk are just looking for schoolbooks or freebies, but lo and behold there were a few people looking to buy books to fill sets or add to collections.  I shot a quick e-mail off to one gentleman noting that we had 3 volumes in a sci-fi/fantasy series he was reading and not an hour or two later he responded and asked me to set them aside.  First thing Saturday morning he was in to pick them up and was so pleased with us for contacting him and setting the books aside, he actually gave me a generous tip after paying!
